BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Conspiracy Theory #245 The Knicks have everything to gain

Donnie Walsh would love to deal Stephon Marbury to the Boston Celtics because it would torpedo the Beantown team's chances of repeating.

New Jersey, the Knicks' division rival have learned their lesson that teams automatically improve after they jettison the league's self-proclaimed best point guard and they are nothing if not better than when they Mis-Steph running the show in the Meadowlands. And besides they have Devin Harris.

The Knicks will patiently wait for LeBron James to ditch them Cavs. Why hasn't David Stern reprimanded James for that bit of illegal pandering to a team that wants him while totally disrespecting Cleveland? Well, he's going to New York and Stern is from the Big Apple where he grew up watching the Knicks.

But then again, Mike D'Antoni can talk to Walsh to send Marbury to San Antonio for Jacque Vaughn. That's revenge for the Spurs beating Phoenix in years past.

So where will the Marbury Man go? Wherever it is, the ultimate winner here will be the New York Knicks.
