BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Another draw. Another letdown.

Goddamit! Liverpool drew with Hull 2-2 at Anfield for the third straight draw and at home to boot! It's a good thing Manchester United drew as well so they don't move on up. But Chelsea will play their match later tonight and if they get a win, they'll be two points up in the standings. I feel like Stevie G in the picture. Frustrated, boyo. Damn frustrated.

While talking to a fellow football fan, we both agreed that Hull and Stoke City have had a remarkable season so far but if they're still hanging around by January then they're for real. As for me, they don't need to reach that far coz they've played excellent football since three months ago. And they played plenty inspired at Anfield something the lads were not able to match for long lengths of the match. It's a good thing the Captain equalized or they'd be real down.

C'mon, Reds. It isn't everyday you're on top of the English Premier League. You should be pulling away by now.
