Wear your colors

Sports television personality Lia Cruz models the new Ateneo team jacket.

The sports apparel is a billion dollar industry and I for one am making those fat cats even fatter. I love football kits and own quite a lot of them. And unlike basketball tank tops, football kits are okay to wear outside.

I don't buy too many kicks nowadays and instead prefer jerseys.

This year so far, I've got the following:
- Liverpool home kit 2008-09
- Chelsea home kit 2008-09
- RP Azkals red kit
- Ateneo hoodie
- Chicago Blackhawks home jersey
- Argentina 2008-09
- Germany Euro 2008 kit
- France Euro 2008

And here are my most treasured ones:
- Zinedine Zidane France 2006 World Cup blue
- Zinedine Zidane Real Madrid home kit
- Alessandro Del Piero Juventus home kit
- Patrick Kluivert Ajax Amsterdam home kit
- Riquelme Argentina World Cup 2006

So how about them adidas Ateneo team wear?

I like the blue hoodie -- its fabric, color, and white stripe.
The windbreaker is fine.
The tees I don't. Especially the one that says:

"1987. 1988. 2002. 2008. Bring the pride back."

Now why the hell is that so? It's as if we lost our pride even if we weren't winning. And after this season, unless we win then that shirt is off to used clothing stores or rags.
The jerseys are terrible.
if you those new streamers along Blue Eagle Gym with the copy "Time to add another stripe," I want you all to know that I copy wrote that line.

So if you think they aren't that great, imagine how La Salle feels. In practically every store that carries the Ateneo/La Salle teamwear, the blue outsells the green. According to retailers and some La Sallians I got to speak with, they do not like:
1. the shade of green which looks to pale or faded
2. in the case of their hoodie, the hood covers the words, "La Salle"
2. they feel that Ateneo has the better designs

Having discussed this with some other La Sallians, they say that there's competition among the other makers of La Salle team wear.

Incredibly they shouldn't point a finger at adidas but their school management who approved the designs. A school official called to express concern over the slow sales. Incredible, after threatening to boycott adidas if they didn't do La Salle teamwear now they don't buy or even wear it.

In truth it makes sense to do La Salle teamwear because they have more students than Ateneo, so why it isn't moving the way it should, well, we have opinions that aren't based on fact but mere conjecture. I'd rather not place them here because the narrow-minded might take offense.
