BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Kick off!

If you want a sneak peak of the Ateneo Men's Football Team, they have a game this Sunday 3pm at the Erenchun Field where they'll be playing DLSU in the second match of the 3rd Terry Razon Cup.

Interestingly enough, this is the first time we're fielding an Ateneo team with no call ups from the Juniors squad. No AHS rookies but 9 from the squad are homegrown.

So the veterans are:
Alvin Perez - Captain
Gino Tongson - Co-captain
Gerard Cancio
Jolo Peralta
RS Mantos (GK)
Kurt Alvarez
James Arco
Gab Siojo
Francis Mendoza
Migs Tuazon
Luigi Meer
Fred Ozaeta
Derrick Candelaria
Yu Murayama (GK)
And five rooks: 1 from DLSZ, 1 from LSGH, 1 from Xavier, and 2 from Southridge. Our AHS rook figures to move abroad. SO that's why.

That's a pretty good team, hombres! See you on the pitch.
