BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Righteous!

Remember when Michael Jordan termed their first setback to the Indiana Pacers in the 1998 Eastern Finals as a "bump in the road?" Well, it turned out to be a mountain to climb. Although climb they did to their sixth title in eight years.

Obviously, the Celtics, their regular season record notwithstanding, still have a long way to go. And they had a mountain to climb against the Atlanta Hawks.

But they've put behind their pesky foes and now they face an even more difficult challenge -- LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. They might be known as "the James Gang," but they'll be a handful (as if containing LeBron isn't already a task and a half).

Celebrate this righteous win, KG. Tomorrow's another day onwards to the 17th banner.
