BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

The scorecard: Meet the 2008 Blue Batters



Yup, you heard it here. Kirk Long will indeed be playing with the Ateneo Blue Batters this UAAP Baseball season.

Here's the rest of the line-up:
Nikko Dizer, Carlo Banzon, JR Caparanca, Anton Cabanban, Paolo Castillo, Rheinhart Bartolome, (my nephew -- yes, nepotism rules in my blog!) Carlo Olivares, Bryan Salcedo, Kirk Long, Nico David, Matt Reyes, Alex Tolome, Ogy Yap, Patrick Morales, Macky Blanco, and team captain Stefano Baltao.

Coach is Randy Dizer. The Program Head is Jimmy General. Student managers are Kenji Yuchengco, Migo Valdez, and EJ Poe.
