BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Who Watches Solar Sports (Introducing BTV)?

Prior to the launch of Basketball TV in October 2006, we -- when I was still with Solar Sports -- prepared for a trade launch with advertisers, clients, athletes, government officials, and friends at the New World Renaissance (my fave hotel here in the country). At that time, I was passing on the NBA duties to my good friend Rely San Agustin who was taking over BTV while I was going to concentrate on Solar Sports.

I prepared this vid where I went to ADMU to interview some familiar faces -- Gino Tongson of the football team, Charlie of the volleyball team and that guy who co-hosts Pinoy Records on GMA 7. I also interviewed the Big Bossman (who is a great golfer and funny guy) of Jaguar Philippines, Mr. Willie Soong. I drove Mr. Soong's golf cart one time in Southwoods and we had a blast. I also went around interviewing and videotaping people's testimonies on why they watch Solar Sports. Nothing was scripted.

I thought I'd post it here so you can all enjoy it. It might be Ateneo-flavored, but Mr. Soong is from DLSU. Hahaha
