BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

How about some old school loyalty to the club?

Defensive midfielder Javier Mascherano will quit English football if he fails to agree a permanent move to Liverpool, he said on Sunday.

'I only want to play for Liverpool,' Mascherano told British newspapers. 'I hope the situation will be sorted in the next month. 'If I cannot play for Liverpool I will not play for another club in England. Not even Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester United.'

Mascherano is from Argentina signed an 18-month loan deal with the Anfield club when he left Premier League rivals West Ham United in January. In 30 caps with the Argentine National team, Mascherano scored two goals.

Are you listening, Mr. Show-Me-the-Money A-Rod?
