BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Trading Places

Remember that Eddie Murphy movie of that title? Well, the NBA's got its own version of that. check this out:

Meet the Minnesota Celtics!

That's seven ex-Celts in the twin cities. There would have been nine but two of them --Justin Reed and Marcus banks are no longer with the team. That's Ricky Davis, Mark Blount, Bassy Telfair, Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, and Ryan Gomes who will be donning the Wolves' jersey this season. Well, if this season doesn't work for Boston, there might be room for Danny Ainge as the team's coach.

And now, if only Reggie Miller will exchange his suit for Celtic green....
