NU, Hope, DLSL & Holy Rosary pace RVL on Day 2

NU, Hope, DLSL & Holy Rosary pace RVL on Day 2

Nazareth School of National University, the favorite to annex the first ever Rebisco Volleyball League Girls 18 & Under title, is so imposing that the best that Leyte National High School could do was celebrate a few defensive stops or trick shots here and there.

NSNU, three-time UAAP Girls champions crushed the team from the Visayas, 25-15 and 25-13, behind strong net defense, thunderous spikes, and devastating serves to win its second match in as many days at Sta. Rosa Sports Complex.

Faith Nisperos led a balanced scoring attack for NSNU with 6 points while 6’1” teammates Alyssa Solomon and middle blocker Ivy Lacsina each added five points.

NSNU got off to a blazing start in both sets but wavered in the middle. Leyte’s highlight of the match was a double block on Solomon, who only played in the second set, that dropped for a point. However, the Sampaloc-based squad had too much depth, talent, not to mention height that they eventually put away their foe.

Joining NSNU on top of Pool A in the second day of the Rebisco Volleyball League was Hope Christian High School that came back from a set down to defeat Koronodal National Comprehensive High School 22-25, 25-16, 25-22.

The University of Mindanao Tagum won its first match in two tries when they downed Holy Family Academy of Angeles City, 25-17, and 25-20.

In Pool B play, the other tournament favorite, De La Salle Lipa swept FEU in two sets, 25-18 and 25-22, to remain unbeaten along with hometown team Holy Rosary College made short work of Angelicum Learning Center 25-8, 25-19.

Surprising Bacolod Tay Tung High School also climbed to the top with a 2-0 slate after beating back pesky University of San Jose Recoletos, 25-17 and 25-22.
