Olympic Qualifying Ticket prices bared

With the 2016 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Manila scheduled to tip off in Manila in a little under two months, local basketball fans are salivating for the opportunity to see not only Gilas Pilipinas attempt the Herculean challenge of qualifying but to also watch some of the world’s cage powers that are stocked with NBA players like France’s Tony Parker and Brosi Diaw and Turkey’s Ersan Ilyasova to name a few.
But the tickets could possibly price the fans out of it.
Al Panlilio, chief of the local organizing committee bared the prices for the tournament:
Group Phase ticket prices
General Admission - Php 200
Upper Box - Php 400
Lower Box - Php 6,800
Patron - P8,500
VIP - P10,000
Semifinals Phase ticket prices
General Admission - Php 200
Upper Box - Php400
Lower Box - Php 8,000
Patron - Php 10,000
VIP - Php 12,000
Finals tickets prices
General Admission - Php 200
Upper Box Php 400
Lower Box - Php 10,000
Patron Php 12,000
VIP - Php 14,000
Panlilio noted that there is the television coverage from TV5 that is an alternative as well as the viewing parties they are planning. “It’s an expensive cost to be hosting these qualifiers.”
And what is the cost of hosting the 2016 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Manila?
According to Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas President Manuel V. Pangilinan, “it’s northwards of Php200 million.”
Added the SBP President who under his term of leadership has brought the Philippines back to international basketball prominence and hosted a world-class event, “It’s an expensive price but it’s like that when you love the country. I hope the fans come out to watch.”
