Receiving a commendation from the Philippine Army

I have previously written about how I put the Philippine military and the PBA together for the presentation of colors before a PBA Finals series. That isn't solely it. I have been looking for ways to also tell the story of our enlisted men and women so that our countrymen can better appreciate their sacrifices and service. I didn't do this for myself but for them.

Last Thursday, in simple rites at the CMOG (Civil-Military Operations Group) headquarters at Fort Bonifacio, I received a plaque of appreciation from the Philippine Army for these efforts. Quite honestly, I thought of refusing it at first because this isn't about me. But I accepted it if only I get to do more stuff for the military and the sports world.

I received this handsome looking plaque (picture above). I have received quite a number of these in my professional career and this I have to say is one of the best looking and most appreciated.

And I also received a trophy -- the Warrior Communicator with MLX4! The MLX4 was used by the military during the siege of Zamboanga and the Yolanda crisis and they had this nifty looking trophy created for those who help communicate the story of our men and women in uniform. These two have a place next to my Golden Dove Award and some other awards in my trophy case.

It was also a cool day because I got see 100 men and women promoted to a higher rank. The most number of promotions by the Philippine Army in one day. Of course, their achievements were accomplished over a period of time but they were just promoted in one ceremony.

This I have to say is a highlight day in my career as a journalist. I am most thankful and grateful to God and the people I work with for these opportunities.
