Some of my Philippine Basketball Association memorabilia: print ads I worked on

After college, I was working as a copy writer for an advertising agency (aside from contributing to the features section of the Philippine Daily Inquirer) where I handled a variety of accounts one of which was the Philippine Basketball Association. It was like a dream come true for me since I was a fan of the league.

One of the things I was tasked to do was to come up with a promo for the league and I came up with the PBA TV Trivia Quiz including all the questions that I had to cull from extensive research from the old PBA Hardcourt Annuals of the time. Coincidentally, I will be working on my first-ever Hardcourt for Season 41 as Editor-in-Chief so this another fanboy dream come true. We ran the trivia contest for two seasons before changing it.

We did a variety of television interstitials and print and radio ads. We were supposed to shoot then Swifts import Tony Harris facing the reader like he was going to attack and with storm clouds in the back. But the shoot didn't materialize so we had to settle for this photo of him going up against San Miguel's Kenny Travis.

It was during this time that I first got to work with Ronnie Nathanielsz who became a friend, the late Butch Maniego who I knew from his days working with Jingle magazine, and some of my Ateneo classmates like Ralph Roy and Marco Franco who were then with Vintage. Those days were fun!

I'll be posting all my PBA memorabilia as I find them!
