We took a look at the season-ending stats of the PBA’s Season 38 and 39 and there were some eyebrow-raising results that should be pointed out and make for interesting facts.

Here they are:

The two Talk ‘N Text players moved up in individual stats marking them as their respective team’s fount for points. It’s a high and low combo for TNT. They just need to find balance and youth in that team.

Gary David on the other hand has shown that whatever club he moved to – be it Powerade, Globalport or Meralco – he has been the man.

From a more guard-oriented offense to a pound it inside team. Did it work for Barangay Ginebra?

In Season 38, they finished eighth in the league. This past Season 39, they moved up to sixth. They’re moving up. But need a little more help.

The biggest riser and I do mean BIG!

Petron/San Miguel Beer’s June Mar Fajardo.

In Season 38, the SMB center wasn’t in the Top 10 ranking or anywhere near it. He did rank high in total field goals made placing second to San Mig’s Rafi Reavis by mere percentage points.

Fajardo was also tops in two point field goals made, free throws made, total rebounds, offensive rebounds, blocks, and turnovers.

Massive turnaround for the big guy and for his efforts, he was adjudged the PBA Season 39’s Most Valuable Player and was named to the Mythical Five, All-Defensive Five as well as Most Improved Player! The best big man for San Miguel since Danny Ildefonso.

That’s it for Part 1. In the next part, we will take a look at the rookie performances.
