Africans rule Filoil weekly Awards

The University of Perpetual Help’s
Nigerian forward Nosa Omorogbe is the
Master Player of the Week (of May 6-11, 2013) in the Filoil Flying V Hanes
Premier Cup.
The 6’4” Omorogbe led the Altas to an
84-59 win over Jose Rizal University for his team’s first win in four matches
for the summer tournament. The second year swingman tallied 28 points, eight
rebounds, four assists, and three blocks while playing 31 minutes against
UPHSD.
Rounding out the weekly awardees for
the tournament are the Gatorade Best
Five that includes National University’s Ray Parks and Alfred Aroga, the
College of Saint Benilde’s Mark Romero, the University of Santo Tomas’s Aljon
Mariano, and Omorogbe.
The NU duo of Parks and Aroga led
their team to two wins over Adamson University (70-68) and Arellano University
(86-71).
Romero scored 25 points in the
Blazers’ 74-49 win over the University of the Philippines for CSB’s first win
in four outings.
Mariano, UST’s talented forward, also
led the Tigers in scoring in their two wins for the same period; a 83-79 win
over San Sebastian College-Recoletos (24 points), and a 78-77 win over Colegio
de San Juan de Letran (17 points).
The
Gatorade Defensive Player of the Week is NU’s hulking 6’7” Cameroonian center
Alfred Aroga who compiled 31
rebounds, one steal, and seven blocked shots.
