UFL Power Rankings as of Monday March 4

We asked four regular UFL watchers – Rick Olivares, Ryan Fenix, Bob Guerrero, and Icko De Guzman -- to rank the Division One teams and here’s how the poll went.

Global (#1 last week) – One word best defines them – juggernaut. The defending champions keep on steam rolling opponents. 5-1. 6-0. With every playing date they look better and better. Their goal isn’t to solely to win but to thrash opponents to put some distance in the goal difference.

Loyola (#2 last week) – They have kept clean sheets in their past three matches. Their finely tuned offense keeps humming and they looked great against PSG even after Freddy Gonzalez went out with an injury. The good news for the Sparks is their top striker will be back in two weeks.

Stallion (#3 last week) – Their offense has been sputtering in the second half where they have conceded goals that have made their matches exciting. Still a strong side in need of a bench.

Nomads (#5 last week) – Guess what. The Merville club climbs one notch higher to fourth place in this week’s rankings. The close loss to Global was no fluke. And so is super sub Jason Arroyo who netted their game winner against Pachanga.

Pachanga (#4 last week) – The dark horse contender was ambushed by Nomads dropping them to 2-0-2. The problem has been their offense. They have good players but their attack isn’t as flawless as they’d like. The bright spot? Joven Bedic is now playing. It’s about time.

Kaya (still at #6) – This team is struggling. But no one can take them lightly. One win can turn it all around (that and some help in the transfer window and a coach who needs to get this team to settle down). One more loss and the panic button will have to be pressed.

Green Archers Utd (still at #7) – Needed that win against Air Force real bad to get back on the winning track. That brings up their confidence a bit. And their next opponent is Army. But they cannot take them lightly.

Air Force (last week at #9) – The Airmen finally scored a goal. But that’s about it. They are still being shot at by batteries left and right. It’s a young team all right.  

PSG (#8 last week) – The Smart Club Championship is now a memory. This club needs a lot of help. The club has been trying to get Filipino reinforcements but the players coming in are Iranian. So much for a local flavor.

Army (#10 last week) – Things are not looking good for Army. When they got crushed 6-0 by Global they looked as meek as a lamb. Going gently into that good night they are.
