Did you guys catch the 2012 Singapore Cup match between the Loyola Meralco Sparks and Geylang United? It was a thrilling match where the Philippine club won, 2-1. Thus far, they were the only foreign team to win against a Singaporean team. Had to dash back and forth between the post-match presscon and the pitch where I tried to get interviews with the players from the Loyola Meralco Sparks.
Nice game. At least we showed that the worst S-League right now is not better than one of our best UFL teams. Lots of players ending up with cramps, probably not used to playing in such a beautiful and nice Football pitch ...
ReplyDeletethe lads should prepare well in the next quater final game.. they should at least make use to the pitch, have some runs in the pitch a month before the quarter-game.. by then they could be more aware of cramps and exhaustion.. overall, i was amazed by what the club has shown, superb 1-2 passes, great thru passes and volleys from marky and jimmy, they are surely a local club that you could be proud of.. hopefully they'll have scouts in the african region(ghana, cameroon, cote d' ivore, jamaica.. to cite some) or even import latin and european footballers to help the club gain fame and compete in major club leagues not just in asia but to the rest of the world.. local clubs should do the same as well, surely they can attract avid football fans CRAZY! :)
ReplyDeleteSir Rick, can i ask what's the outfitter for loyola now? 'coz i can't see the mizuno logo anywhere in their jerseys. Hope they can sign up with umbro or nike as their outfitter. it would be a BANG! to the loyola fans craving out there.. :) thanks Sir..
