Messi wins the Ballon d'Or Award and Thierry Henry is once more a Gunner

Lionel Messi wons his third straight Ballon d' Or (FIFA Player of the Year) Award. I think that it is justified but as good as the Argentinean is, he has to validate that by playing great in a World Cup. Some have pointed out to his teammates in Barcelona who make him better. That might be so but I think on the Albiceleste, he has some pretty good and talented teammates as well (although they do not play as often as they'd like). By the same token there's the strange case of Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose who did not have great seasons with their respective clubs prior to the World Cup in South Africa. Yet for the second  the two-man strike force for Germany turned the FIFA World Cup Finals into their personal showcase (and for the second straight WC to boot)! How's that for a bone?

It sure is great to see Thierry Henry back in an Arsenal kit if only for the next two months as he is on loan from New York. And it is interesting because the dynamic of the club has changed so much. Rob van Persie is the man and Arsenal has gone with the youth movement and is no longer a French, er, English club. But this is a nifty touch to the Frenchman's career because not everyone is given an opportunity to close the book and play a second time for a club where he made a name for himself.
