A Tiger gets scratched

After UST played Adamson this second round, Tigers coach Pido Jarencio and Karim Abdul went to the media room and we all wondered where those horrendous scratches came from. Turns out that in a rebound scuffle, Abdul was raked by the long fingernails of Rodney Brondial. At the time we saw the wounds they were raw and bleeding -- this picture was taken today Sunday -- and he had to take shots afterwards to prevent infection. The Tigers were upset with Abdul's suspension and they filed a letter of complaint to the commissioner's office but to no avail. They wanted all the players' fingernails checked before every game. Hahaha! I think that makes for better humor than Kobe Bryant being recruited to play. Karim also complained about getting punched in the ribs that caused difficulty in his breathing. At one point, he went to the bench to get a plastic cup to put over his underwear! I had a lengthy conversation with the UST coaching staff about their prized center getting banged up. Definitely cause for concern.

You know what this reminds me of? That Charles Barkley quote about NBA forwards and centers having really long finger nails. His arms were periodically raked by those in need of a nailcutter.
