In the fourth Clint Eastwood-Dirty Harry film Sudden Impact, Sandra Locke's character is driving a car when some punks eye her rather sexually. Locke asks, "Need a lift?" The punk answers, "Yeah." "Then shove a jack up your ass!" she hisses as she steps on the accelerator.
Needing a lift against the rising Miami Heat, the Chicago Bulls didn't need a jack because they have Taj Gibson. Gibson (University of Southern California) was selected 26th overall by Chicago in the 2009 Draft. He played behind Tyrus Thomas and now Carlos Boozer. I think if he starts and play consistently, he'll be a starter and maybe a top-notch defender. Here are his 2010-11 season stats:
Regular season
80 games played, 19 started.
7.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, .7 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 2.5 fouls in 21 minutes per match.
Playoffs
12 games played (as of today), zero started
6.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, .7 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 2 fouls in 18 minutes per match.
In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Gibson compiled the following stats:
9 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 3 fouls, and 2 death-defying dunks in 23 minutes.
Figure he'll get more playing time the rest of the way. Now it's Miami's turn to make the adjustments especially on matchups.
