Scenes from the Opening Day of the Visayas Regionals

The Azkals motor around the city during the Friday afternoon motorcade. The lads were noticeably tired as they had a long trip the day before and sorely lacked sleep. But the scooters and bikes woke them up. Nothing like a toy for the big boy to get the blood pumping. The motorcade lasted about 20 minutes before we headed over to Silliman U for the opening program of the PFF Suzuki U-23 National Cup.

Silliman Field has a small bleachers area that seats a couple of hundred. I'd estimate the crowd watching the match between Dumaguete and Leyte at 500 people. I arrived at the venue a few minutes earlier than the motorcade and the buzz grew to a cheer when the Azkals arrived. Amazing. There was a brief security nightmare when people from the audience entered the field to ask for photos, autographs or souvenirs from the Azkals.

It's a good crowd at the Filemon Cimafranca Field. At the bottom of the picture is Suzuki Philippines President Satoshi Uchida, Dumaguete Mayor Chiquiting Sagarbarria, PFF President Nonong Araneta, and Leyte FA and National Team Manager Dan Palami.

  1. I hope DAn Palami brings back the Azkals here on their future trainings and hopefully when the Perdices Coliseum will be complete, Azkal's matches.
