The world is crazy about basketball 篮球 básquetbol basquete

Dudes, this has got to be a way cool event and it has nothing to do with the Space Jam animation with live folk stuff. It's hoops. International hoops to be precise. The World Basketball Festival, an event by USA Basketball and Nike, is a four-day celebration of the performance and culture of the game that runs from August 12-15 in the greatest city on terra firma.

There'll be music and concerts all around but the real action takes place in several of New York City landmarks -- Radio City Music Hall to the legendary basketball courts at Rucker Park in Harlem and to the world famous Madison Square Garden. On Friday and Saturday, August 13 and 14, Rucker Park will be home to open-air practices and scrimmages by National Teams from the United States, Brazil, Puerto Rico and France.

Then the World Basketball Festival will conclude on Sunday, August 15 with an exciting exhibition double-header featuring the United States taking on France (1 p.m. EDT) and China meeting Puerto Rico (3:30 p.m. EDT) at famed Madison Square Garden.  The exhibition games are being utilized as part of the teams’ preparation for the 2010 FIBA World Basketball Championship in Turkey, August 28 to September 12. Both games will air on NBA TV and ESPN2.
