@the NBA Fit Training Camp Araneta Coliseum

At the NBA Fit Training Camp at the Araneta Coliseum. With Miami Heat assistant coach David Fizdale. Coach Fiz played a huge role in the development of the player at Atlanta before he returned to the Heat. Coach Spo teaches them a thing or two. I hope the coaches who watched learned from this (especially the women's national team) and will continue even some of the drills. The watchword for the camp -- communication.

I understand that many of the players aren't teammates and in local parlance, "hindi pa nagkakaamuyan." So the lack of communication can cause problems to chemistry, defense, and on offense. Nevertheless, it is a trait that isn't much developed since the Filipino tends to keep quiet. Reminds me of some how the problem with out shit supplier was swept under the rug. Wusses.

While the women got the drills a little more easier it should be taken into proper context. The intensity level for the men got amped up with Coach Spo and the others becoming more demanding. It was an interesting day for all.

In a Q&A with coaches, Coach Spo said that the best coached teams he saw so far in the Philippines are Alaska and Ateneo. He also did mention San Miguel Beer. Sorry I omitted this. I checked the transcript again.

In the picture below: three of our Gatorade Brand Ambassadors took part in the camp. Mapua's Andretti Stevens, Ateneo's Kirk Long, and Adamson's Alex Nuyles. Kirk was awesome in the camp. The best. And there's this kid from CSB -- Jericho de Guzman. Did I get his surname right? He was bleeping tall! Others who joined the camp: FEU's Christian and Arvie Bringas and Ateneo's Nico Salva.
