Alex Rodriguez finally hits his 600th home run and it helps the New York Yankees stave off a sweep at the hands of the underwhelming Toronto Blue Jays who took two of three and allowed the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to tie NY for first in the AL East.
Now that the home run chase is done, maybe the circus can go away and we can see everyone focus on getting wins because they way New York is playing the wild card is all you'll get.
While most people were following the home run chase, I was not. I was more concerned that they were losing to to Tampa and Toronto while Boston has been creeping up. Dangerous dog days of the season these are.
And c'mon Brian Cashman, you need pitching but you got a pair of hitters (yes it's cool but it is not what you need) and Kerry Wood who has seen better days even before he joined the Yankees.
It has been said time and again -- pitching, pitching, and pitching. You are to enamored of bashing long balls when that alone does not win games or a World Series. The Phillies clearly put up a lineup to beat the Yankees and what changes did you make to the roster? Are they helping?
Like I said, I hope missing out on Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee doesn't bite you back in the ass.
