Adamson Falcons throttle UE Red Warriors for 4th win

Adamson throttles UE for 4th win

The University of the East Red Warriors have made a bad habit of digging themselves into a hole then trying to attempt the impossible by a last ditch rally.

But Adamson spotted them too huge a lead that by the time the Warrior’s James Martinez caught fire as he rifled in four triples in the fourth quarter, they had run out of time as the Falcons held them off for a 69-56 win.

“Any time you play you that still has Paul Lee and James Martinez, they are dangerous,” said Adamson coach Leo Austria. “We prepared hard for the game and we wanted to have a good start. Fortunately, we were able to accomplish that.”

Against the Adamson Falcons, the Red Warriors were down by 21 points at one point in the third quarter until James Martinez caught fire in the final quarter as he hit four triples to bring his beleaguered side back 58-48.

Without Paul Lee’s guns which were jammed all throughout the game, UE didn’t have much in the tank as they only hit 22 of 73 shots for a poor 30.1% field goal shooting. Lee was held to 5-points on 2-16 shooting for his lowest output since Aug 4, 2008 when the Red Warriors lost also to Adamson 58-45 when the shooting guard played only 8 minutes and scored one point. Before this match, Lee was averaging 20.0 points per game.

Adamson led 31-20 at the half and upon resumption of the game, the Falcons proceeded to drop a 15-point bomb while UE could only answer with four points.

Alex Nuyles led Adamson with 19 points while Eric Camson and Janus Lozada added 15 and 10 points respectively.

James Martinez topscored for UE with 18 points while Ken Acibar added 12. The Red Warriors plummeted to 1-5 while Adamson moved up to 4-2 tied with La Salle for second place. The Falcons’ standing is their best ever start under fourth year coach Leo Austria.
