The New York Yankees completed a two series homestand against the Los Angeles Angels (Anaheim, California, or LA -- please decide on what your name is) and the Texas Rangers with a 5-1 record. Four straight series wins against the best of the American League. Now they're off on a West Coast swing with the 9-5 Oakland A's who are on top of the AL West.
Andy Pettitte got the win to go 2-0; the same record of CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett. Phil Hughes is 1-0 while Javy Vasquez is at 0-2 with all sorts of mental problems about the game and pitching for the Yankees. The next game is crucial for Javy because he's on the mound at the Alameda County Coliseum in two days' time. Ramiro Peña subbed for DJ and got a hit. Mark Teixeira joined the Yanks' home run parade by blasting his first. Jorge Posada also homered. I remember two years ago when analysts said that Jorge was on the decline. Uh uh.
He and Mo were there for the final pitch as NY won 5-2.
