Kiteboarding in Boracay

If you used to watch this on ESPN well, now it happening in our beaches. Fifty-nine kiteboard racers from 22 countries competed in the Philippine leg of the first-ever Kiteboard Tour Asia (KTA) held from February 24-27 in the beach island of Boracay. The first three legs were held in China, Hong Kong, and Vietnam with the fourth leg in the Philippines. The competition concludes in Thailand on March 25-28.

Europeans showed the way with the UK's Robin Snuggs and Frenchmen Mallory de Villamarque and Florian Daubos taking the men's freestyle competition. Kathrin Bogwardt of Germany and Carla Delmoral and Nuria Goma of Spain won in the Women's Course Racing. Men’s course racing was ruled by Turk Taner Aykurt, Lithuanian Deivis Maciulis, and Thai Narapichit Pudla.

In other categories, in Men's Speed Racing, Germany's Angel Parzhuber and Tony Heiss and Canada's Bobo Corniel; came out winners while in the Women's Category, Canadian Candice Shedley, the Philippines' Lizel Tio, and Norway's topped the competition. Meanwhile, local favorite Ken Nacor of Cabrinha Boracay emerged third placer in the overall standing after four legs of the KTA.

As for me -- I'm planning on going to Boracay this June. Don't like going when it's all crowded. Crossing fingers now.
