Thursday Stuff

If I haven't been writing much lately that's because that I've got a lot of things that need doing now and some of them have to give. What's up? Much of it is non-sports. But it's all work.

When I'm asked about Smart Gilas, yeah, sorry it's been awhile. There are so many holes in the story that should be filled. Hopefully, before the end of the month and that will answer many questions. It's a long long piece. Maybe longer than the first series I wrote on the team. A lot of people have been bugging me on picking up on the team. All I can say is, in due time, hommes. But it will be well worth the wait.

And there's the next issue of Rebound to put together that could possibly be my last.

----------

It's official. The UP Men's Football Team did not wait for the Board ruling as they voluntarily forfeited their games in the tourney as two of their players -- Ayi Aryee and Nate De Guzman played in the UFL. It's a sorry sorry end to what had the makings of a great season. So that keeps UST on top followed by FEU. Ateneo moves up to 3rd with 12 points, La Salle at fourth with 10 points (they have yet to play UP in the second round), and UE goes to 5th with 6 points while UP is at the bottom with 0 points.

Where lies the blame for this? I'd hate to say this as the coaches are friends but that's where it should lead. It was painful for the team to get a dressing down from a UP official who said that it was wrong for the coaches to field their players knowing there was already a protest and an infraction. Ironically, a former UP team manager pointed out the mistakes at the same time UFL match officials noted the presence of the two Maroons. There were four others listed who did not suit up. But as I said earlier, a yellow card to the NCRFA for allowing the UFL to be hosted at the same time as the UAAP tournament. The players might have been ignorant about the rules but the team officials cannot claim the same.

The NCRFA better get their act together. That's why the PFF is carving you up with a butcher's knife.
