It's fun when you see your pitcher sending heaters and changeups past batters who whiff at empty air.
I've seen Roger Clemens do it for the New York Yankees against the New York Mets. I've also seen Randy Johnson do it for the Marlins against the Yankees. And that was in the World Series!
Andy Pettitte is one of the five people in this Yankees club with a link to their championship past. Manager Joe Girardi, closer Mo Rivera, shortstop Derek Jeter, and catcher Jorge Posada are the others. Andy has always been steady for the club and I was really hoping he'd get that no hitter/perfect game. Seven innings and 20 batters up and down. Until that Jerry Hairston jr. error that allowed a baserunner.
Even the crowd at the beautiful Camden Yards was cheering for Pettitte and the Yanks. That must suck huh? When the home crowd isn't rooting for the home Baltimore Orioles but for the visitng club.
At least they got the 5-1 win to go to 83-48 while Pettitte struck out eight as he got his 12th win against 6 losses. This team reminds me of the 1998 team. A bad start they they began to take care of business.
