Breaking down the Ateneo-UE game

For the second straight game, Ateneo had to rally to win. But when they took the lead, they did not surrender it.

The bench mob picked up the slack from the slow-starting first unit:
Ateneo bench scoring vs FEU 27-14
Ateneo bench scoring vs UE 17-10

Val Acuña scoring by the quarter 11-8-2-0.
In their win vs DLSU, they had one player step up for the last three quarters:
2nd Qtr - Llagas
3rd Qtr. - Zamar
4th Qtr.- Espiritu

Against ADMU
1st Qtr. Acuña
2nd Qtr. - Acuña
3rd Qtr. - no one
4th Qtr. - no one

Ateneo scored 34 points from the perimeter and mostly in the first half. Then 32 inside the paint and the bulk during the second half where Ateneo blew UE out of the water.

Amazing how the team did not panic in the first quarter. And before you knew it, they had chipped down significantly at the Red Warriors's lead.

Rebounds
Ateneo 42 total 9 offensive
UE 49 total 19 offensive

Assists
Ateneo 11
UE 9

Steals
Ateneo 1
UE 2

Blocks
4 apiece

Glaring: Zero points from Ateneo fastbreak.

What was the key for me for the win?
We played as a team to overhaul the lead and then when the going got tough, we gave it to the Big Fella.
The inside-outside game and the defense was great.
Emman Monfort is the team's new firestarter.
