Looks like the Baltimore Orioles are for real. They are currently in the middle of thrashing the Tampa Bay Devil Rays who took two of three from Boston the other day.
As for the New York Yankees, looks like they found an antidote to get their season going in the hapless Kansas City Royals. In four matches so far, they've arrested their early hitting woes. But this club can always hit... except in the post-season. Nevertheless, pitching is the key. Sabathia needs to rebound from his poor first outing with NY or he'll be hearing boos when he pitches the opener in Yankee Stadium next week.
The Toronto Blue Jays are on top of the AL East so far at 5-1. In six matches, they've scored 42 runs and given up 27 for a +15 differential. The Blue Jays have always had good pitching but now they're hitting the ball well and that makes them doubly dangerous.
As for the Boston Red Sox, they nipped the grieving Angels 5-4 to go even-Steven at 2-2 but are still in the cellar. Hate to say it but a win is still a win and the Los Angeles Angels have to get out of their mourning stage and compete. It's way way too early to give up and let the tragedy of Nick Adenhart bog them down. They did win the emotional first game of the series 6-3 but emotion only carries a player or club too far because it leaves you even more spent.
It's by the 20th game where we are more or less going to see separation between teams in the standings. So anyone on the leaderboard means nothing now.
