Sideline Slants

Lionel Messi scored twice in Barcelona's 2-1 win over Racing Satander that gave his side a 12-point lead over Real Madrid in the La Liga standings. The second goal was the 5,000th goal in Barcelona history and it wasn't only for a win but it also goes to the Catalan club's museum. Four days later, Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez add to more to the toal to give Barca a 2-0 win over Mallorca in the Copa Del Rey semi-finals first leg.

David Beckham asks for a permanent transfer to AC Milan. The LA Galaxy should ask for Ronaldinho in exchange. Let the Spice Boy and his Italian club pay.

Steven Gerrard is out for three weeks. Now how does that tell on Liverpool's chances in the English premier League? He is a proven winner and his presence can spell his side's success. Hey, Rafa. What's your next excuse?

Alaska and Talk N Text are now tied at 2-2. Did I see it this way? Yup. All the past PBA Finals have gone to seven games. I'm not implying anything. Promise!

Willie Miller wins the Best Player of the Conference Award. I honestly thought Mark Cardona was going to win it and as good as Miller was, maybe it should have gone to Captain Hook. But I guess he's not the most popular guy around. Medyo bawas angas, bro. It's not helping.

Kellogg's drops Michael Phelps as its endorser. That was a dope deal in the first place, champ! Now you've lost it. But if you ask me, it was a perfect time for the cereal giant to save on money.

And the hits just keep on rolling (paper). God! What's with all these bad puns?! Bwahahahaha. Hey, this is not kicking a dog when it's down. But Phelps dropped it.

Manny Ramirez rejects the LA Dodgers. Hmm. Is he heading back eastward?

Ray Allen goes to the All-Star Game. It's about time. Now the East has got Jesus.

A couple of good things about Super Bowl XLIII: seeing Cuba Gooding Jr. in the stands and the Transformers II teaser.
