BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

I was in Ateneo this morning walking at first then at the football field talking with some coaches about football, God, Ateneo, politics, and whether 442 is still a superb formation. Around 11am I got a call about something brewing with inboundpass and a columnist there. How I posted a picture in the blog and said all sorts of things.

Well, I didn't. All one had to do was read it carefully and with an open mind. I didn't even mention a name. And I sat courtside next to Chris Soler, Tessa Jazmines, Jasmine Payo, the Guidon people, and a few others. I have not taken any game pix this year and have stopped taking video.

It's an unfortunate incident and I apologize for it. The incredible thing is how it was blown out of proportion. Honestly, I feel bad about it. Kasi the son is a friend too. I may agree with what people have said but the intention I guess came out differently.

I was informed by inboundpass a while ago that the references to me have been deleted and on my own I have deleted the part of my unfortunate post. It wasn't asked but I have done so para tapos na.

A few months ago, I said I was sick and tired of all this Ateneo-La Salle rivalry that brings out the best and worst in people. I got caught up again. So I guess, I'll keep to writing about stuff and refrain from criticisms like that unless it is really warranted.

All I can say is I'll be more cognizant of those things from now on.

Peace.
