Around the horn - short stuff

The Athletic Office in Adamson University is jokingly referred to by students as, “Camp Big Falcon.”

Some wags say that National University's new sports facility will be known as SM Bustillos (or more appropriately SM Jhocson).

What cost NU their game versus UE? Errors, poor rebounding and Raymond Aguilar. Those “pilit” shots of his and the monstrous blocks on him by Elmer Espiritu gave the momentum to the Recto squad. Stop thinking of those stats, Raymond. Play the game.

The black on the Ateneo basketball jerseys is a first using a different color. But the 1985-86 Ateneo UAAP Baseball Team is the first and only school team not to wear any blue on their uniform. They wore gray.

I want Aaron Rodgers to succeed as QB1 for the Green Bay Packers. As solid as their unnamed former franchise player was (who shall remain nameless in this blog since his return to the NFL as a personal sign of my displeasure at his being Jerk1), Rodgers is an unproven commodity in Wisconsin. It's a win-and-literally-lose situation for the new starting QB. But he's got the sympathy and support of a lot of people.

Go west, young man. In the wake of news reports that LeBron James and Kobe Bryant would probably accept a one-year contract to play in Europe, Josh Childress formerly of the Atlanta Hawks signed with Greek team Olympiakos and Orlando Magic PG Carlos Arroyo is now headed for Maccabi Tel Aviv. Utah 4-man is said to also be considering a move to the Old Continent "if the wife is down with it and the money is right." If the NBA has been fleecing Europe of it best players, it is obvious that two can play that game. But I still believe that the NBA s still the choice for most to play. As for Spain's Ricky Rubio... the US awaits.
