About the Ateneo-La Salle video

For those wondering why the music (by Daft Punk) was a little too loud that the interviews couldn't be heard, I apologize. But the interviews save for Doug and Jobe Nkemakolam were mahina. I had to listen to Eric and Yuri several times because it was just really noisy out there. I had a few more others that I ended up not using because of the same reason. I could have cured it on my laptop but sorry I was in a rush because of so many deadlines. I went to bed at 4am and wasn't able to do much work the following day. Sorry. I've fixed the audio levels but i don't think I can upload it again. Maybe i can compile them at the season's end.

But cheers, dudes. There's next time.

So why was Eric Salamat saying "action speaks louder than words" over and over? That's because before tip off the Green Archers while pretending to shake hands said things like "O, kumusta ka na, P**ina mo?" They do this all the time, I heard from the players. And guys like Walsham and Maierhofer love talking trash. Sure our biggest trash talkers are Salamat, Jai Reyes, and Rabah Al-Husseini (who has been quiet of late since his game has gone south). And during that match, Ilad and up and coming trash talker Ferdinand (inampon na raw ni Franz 'to?) were doing an inordinate amount of blah blah. When Zion blocked Walsham the next time down the court during a lull, I yelled at him, "P**ina mo rin sapal ka." And he just stared back at me.

Some asked why did the tone of the game account have a certain angas to it. Well... it is Ateneo versus La Salle. There is no sentiment in the game whatsoever and whenever. It is all about raw and naked emotion. I've been in a rumble with those greenies twice in my lifetime and will never forget them because it was so harrowing and goddam scary. Those guys love talking smack. I know we do too so there it is. We didn't start this. They did all the way back in 1939 when they taunted us by tossing fried chickens at the gates of the Padre Faura campus.

They are selling a DVD at the alumni office and the Sports Hall of Fame: FIGHT! FIGHT! THE STORY OF THE BLUE AND WHITE. It's a low budget production of the history of Ateneo sports that I wrote and directed. You can buy a copy there or get the director's cut version (IMHO is way better) from me where you will see a lot of outtakes like Gary Lising's jokes that had everyone from Sen. Dick Gordon, Dodie Agcaoili, and Baby Dalupan in stitches. Email me or come on over and say hi next time. I'll be at the NU game this Saturday. Perhaps mga 1pm so I have a chance to chat with Joe Lipa who is an old friend.

To Adamson coach Jing Ruiz... good luck next year. And a shout out to Manny Dandan of the NU Bulldogs! Sayang, sir! Thanks also to Pido Jarencio for the assist during the problem with Araneta.

And the Ateneo Football Center... to sina Jong Castaneda and the hardworking team over there, you guys do a good job.
