BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

When I conducted a video interview with Rachel Anne Daquis and Charo Soriano last volleyball season, it was nothing more than a volleyball story. I'm amazed at how some people in youtube make it out that Rachel should keep quiet rather than talk because she may not be as articulate. That's crap, brothers! Not everyone can be good at one thing. People are good at different things. If you speak with some of the UST or even NU players, they're articulate or even more insightful than others. I don't go into every interview thinking that I'll get good quotes out of them. It's an interview plain and simple.

Peace!
